Duane Loken's official site

About Duane:

Duane lives in the county of Los Angeles in California. He dropped out of acting for many years, and was producing commercials, music videos, infomercials, among other things. Right now he's considering getting into acting, but is focusing most of his artistic energies into music. He's looking to get some new music released in the future, and that people will enjoy it and have it as part of their music collection.

He was pretty busy with his mom being sick for many years. His mom is dead now, and he has more freedom to travel as long as his schedule permits. His other work (behind the camera work) also takes time.

The old bio, written by me, updated by Duane November 2006:

Duane's story is a long and miraculous one. It has its valleys, and it has its peaks.
* Duane's parents were a mixed racial couple. Duane's dad was of Scandinavian descent (I have traced his lineage pretty far back in Norway if you think you're related), while his mom was fullblooded Comanche according to her mother. Duane and his older brother went through a lot of racism, not fitting in either with the Whites or the Reds.
* His dad was good with business, and developed a successful business from scratch. He was murdered by industrial sabotage when Duane was a kid. That propelled Duane into a life in streetgangs and crime. He was apprehended and would have gone to prison in short order if he hadn't been rescued by a policeman who told him what life behind bars would have been like. He has since tried to pay off his debt to this man by carrying on the same type of work with youngsters who might otherwise have ended up in gangs, drugs and crime.
* His mom convinced the judge to let him go if she could redirect his energies and later on he spent time on a reservation.
* After a while she decided he didn't fit in there, and moved him back to Los Angeles. By then he'd received his Indian name Little Storm. Go figure...
* He had begun acting very early, and one account says he's had more than 200 parts in movies and TV through the years. But I think he's thrown out the old resumes, so I don't have much info on that.
*But by 1979 he'd gotten the part that made it happen for him. He landed Wolfpaw in How the West was Won (or Macahans').
* When that series hit Sweden he became a hot commodity, and was brought over. It was discovered that he could sing, and an album "No Sweat" was produced. To make a long story short, he broke every record in "Folkparkerna" (outdoor concert venues), and was the hottest popstar around. He did a repeat performance in Norway a few years later when the series was aired there, and toured Scandinavia and other countries off and on until 1986-87. His mom got sick in 1985, and from then on it was a bit harder to get away.
* There are many more chapters to his story, some of which I don't have written accounts of right now, but remember having read once upon a time.
* Duane is very happy to get fan mail, so Duane encourages you to send me e-mail for him or sign the guestbook. I send it to him every now and then. Sadly he isn't on the net, and I don't have the go ahead to give you any 'public' address for him so far. Duane apologizes that he is not more easily accessible. But he admits he's a complete computer dummy and has no ability to deal with them. So we do it this way. The other important and stronger reason is for his safety. Over the years there have been some very extreme and sometimes dangerous situations when people present themselves as fans, but really have much darker agendas. Because of problems like this in the past, we've set it up this way. We hope it doesn't offend anybody, but he asks for your understanding.
*Duane is a Christian and is a spiritual person. He doesn't believe in beating people over the head with his own personal beliefs. People have the right to make their own decisions and should be free to live their lives without the condemnation from other people whose beliefs are different than theirs. Duane feels this kind of prejudice and insensitive behavior is not spiritual or helpful to anyone. So he rarely discusses the issue.

An old friend of Duane recently painted a very vivid picture of Duane, his memories of the time when he first got to know Duane:

your biography of duane was fun to read...however, there's a few things missing. the guy is a very, very generous...in duane's company, you never went hungry...and you were never bored...he has the heart of a playful kid and an endless fascination for gagets. he was the first guy i ever knew with a car phone in 1980 (that really worked) and he was riding harley's decades before the hollywood set jumped on the bandwagon. by the way, there's a great picture for your web site... ask him to find the photo of him riding a blue harley, in full indian attire, standing on the bike with his knees, and his arms straight out to the sides, cruising along at fifty plus...if I'm not mistaken, that day sort of initiated the beginning of his love for, and eventual purchase of a harley...the picture was taken at griffith park ....swedish photogs were busy putting together some publicity shots before his ground breaking tour. they thought they would get a few static shots of him sitting on the bike...but duane had some other concepts in mind.

he has a weakness for chicken skin, 70's era muscle cars with illegal nitrous hookups, and chinese buffet (a favorite spot in englewood near his mom's place may still be around) however, good food always played second fiddle to lively conversation...his dinner would routinely get cold at restaurants.
